Sustainable Building Solutions, Inc. has a core purpose – the construction of homes that capitalize on the concept of “Use Value,” i.e., homes that adapt to the multiple requirements of their owners over time and without associating the home with a period of time. “Use Value” is in stark contrast to achieving purposes of “Market Value,” which results in homes that are standardly stylish, and designed to appeal to and serve needs and tastes of everyone, but that ultimately satisfy very few.

Our homes feel timeless, as their construction is driven by investments in the structure that ensure flexibility and endurance and that serve the changing needs of occupants over the lifetime of the home.

Our strategy is to proceed meticulously, to discover commonplace construction errors and omissions as a means of guiding and instructing the process. Traditional construction approaches tend to deal with these by covering them up or working around them, thereby leaving consequences to the home owner at a time when the problems these oversights contributed to are more costly and difficult to resolve. Our approach leads to greater viability and flexibility in the final product. This strategy treats the fundamentals of this living investment with the attention and respect it deserves and offers enduring paybacks to homeowners.

We believe we are on the leading edge of a movement to build high quality, environmentally friendly, and healthful homes. In a September 30, 2004, article in The Associated General Contractors Newsletter, it was reported that construction executives forecast increases in the “green” building business. As many as 93% of construction executives working with green buildings expect to see an increase in their green workload in the next three years, according to Greenbiz.com. A survey by the group shows even executives not currently working with green buildings expect to see an upswing in green business, with 30% reporting it to be very or extremely likely that their organization would work on a green project in the next three years.
